Background
What was the original reason you chose Trust Go Grow®?
I had been in contact with Trust Go Grow® before, and when I stepped into a new role as CEO, where there was quite a lot of conflict in the group, it felt very right to start working with Trust Go Grow®.
What signals did you see in the team/organisation that made you want to act?
Conflicts, unfamiliarity with feedback and dysfunctional behaviours.
The process
How did you experience the structure, format and communication during the programme?
Very good. For us it worked well to work in stages, take breaks, have a few weeks between sessions and then take the next step. In the beginning, not everyone wanted to take part fully in the process.
What worked well and what could have been done differently?
As trust grew, collaboration also improved. It was exciting to see how the group developed, with each individual growing in their own way. In the beginning there was weeping and gnashing of teeth, but over time a constructive way of receiving feedback developed. I don't feel that anything needed to be done differently.
In what way did Trust Go Grow® differ from other development initiatives you have tried?
Trust Go Grow® is responsive and adapts the process to what is actually needed, instead of only following a predetermined path. I also chose to continue with coaching after the period ended, because it was valuable to build on a deep understanding of both the team and my leadership.
”In the beginning there was weeping and gnashing of teeth, but over time a constructive way of receiving feedback developed.”
The result
What made the biggest difference for you?
The working climate has changed.
What concrete behavioural changes did you see in the team/organisation?
That feedback isn't dangerous – that we wish each other well and want to do good things together.
Have you noticed differences in, for example, courage in dialogue, accountability, collaboration or communication?
Change requires constant practice, and we need to remind ourselves to keep training. When we do, we quickly get back on track – the run-up isn't as long anymore.
Which effects have lasted over time?
The working climate and increased courage.
What are you most satisfied with in the programme?
The result and the working climate.
The recommendation
Would you recommend Trust Go Grow® to others, and why?
Yes, absolutely. I thought I already "knew" leadership and didn't have much more to learn, but through Trust Go Grow® I have continuously gained new insights about myself. I have made several changes that make life as a CEO feel easier and less lonely.
I recommend Trust Go Grow® to everyone who works together in a workplace – even if you don't know you need help.
